Tarleton Libraries

Tarleton Libraries offer information and research materials, personalized services, technological tools, and study/meeting spaces to support the educational, research, scholarship, and recreational needs of the entire University community. The libraries' resources and services can be accessed online at http://www.tarleton.edu/library and by visiting the libraries.

The Dick Smith Library, Tarleton's main library, is centrally located on the Stephenville campus. This library provides access to public computer workstations, collaboration (group work) stations, in-house use of library laptops, scanners, printers/copiers, wireless Internet connections, and presentation tools. In addition, it offers group and individual study rooms and areas, an equipped presentation practice room, and meeting facilities that enhance study, group interaction, and information access. The Library Learning Commons features a technology-rich environment that supports collaborative group work and individual research/study, as well as technology help desks, academic support staff consultation and tutoring areas, and the Study Grounds Café. Additionally, the Maker Spot offers students easy access to technologies like 3-D printers, 3-D scanners, GoPro cameras, poster printer, and electronic/computer kits to invent, create, explore, and design.

The Texan Hall library (Fort Worth Hickman campus) provides users with targeted collections of resources, computer access, and printing/scanning capabilities, as well as group study areas. To facilitate access to needed resources, free delivery of library materials is available via courier to all Tarleton satellite campuses.

Information and research offerings provided by Tarleton Libraries include print and electronic books (400,000+), periodicals (82,000+), government documents, audiovisual materials, microforms, archives, and digital images. Information about these materials can be readily located using the libraries’ online catalog. To further support users' research endeavors, Tarleton Libraries offer over 200 databases that provide online access to full-text articles and citations from thousands of scholarly and professional journals, trade publications, popular magazines, newspapers, and selected reference books, as well as streaming video and digital music to support coursework and research endeavors.

Tarleton librarians and professional staff offer services and resources in person, by telephone, through email, and online to meet Tarleton community’s ever-changing needs. The libraries provide research and reference assistance, individual and group instruction sessions, online research guides and tutorials, and technical support. In addition, Dick Smith Library offers interlibrary loan services that provide materials not available in the libraries’ collections, as well as extended hours. Also, home or office document delivery is available for qualified distance/online students. Furthermore, Tarleton Libraries' participation in the TexShare consortium gives Tarleton students, faculty, and staff privileges at most academic and public libraries in Texas. There are agreements in place that provide access to library services and resources for Tarleton students at McLennan Community College, Navarro College, and Weatherford College.
